Reviving Your Old Blog Posts

If you’ve been blogging awhile you have a significant catalog of posts. They may still get a bit of traffic and there’s a lot of good information hidden in those posts. So why let them languish away in some dark corner?

“You don’t have to create content day in and day out. You just have to work on getting the content you already have in the hands of more people.” ~Derek Halpern of Social Triggers

Content is an investment.

Reviving Your Old Blog PostsYou spend a lot of time planning, researching, and writing it. It makes good business sense to maximize your investment by reviving and reusing it.  Are you thinking, but some of the material may be outdated, some links may be broken and your writing, formatting and image creation skills have come a long way since those early days. These are all steps you need to exam when you revive your old posts.  In other words, there’s a lot you can do to make these older posts better.
Of course, I’m not suggesting you should stop writing new content. That’s always necessary to establish and maintain your reputation as a thought leader. This is the perfect thing to do when you know you have a busy day ahead of you, but blogging is on your schedule and your readers are expecting a post. Or when you are planning an ‘unplugged’ vacation but want to keep your blog updated. In the next few blog

Reviving Your Old Blog Posts

Step 1 – Look At Your Stats
Step 2 – Pick Your Blog Posts
Step 3 – Update The Content
Step 4 – Monetize
Step 5 – Make it Pretty
Step 6 – Is It Social Media Ready?
Step 7 – Start Driving Traffic
Step 8 – Add It To Your  Email Funnel
Step 9 – Rinse and Repeat
There are two different ways you can tackle this. You can work in batches, doing step one for a couple of blog posts, then move on to step two etc.
Or you can start with one old post and work on it from start to finish. Pick whichever method works best for you.

But it takes too much time!

Are you feeling overwhelmed and thinking that could take all your time? Try outsourcing. Scripted.com found that 62 percent of companies use content outsourcing for some or all of their content marketing needs to third party providers and services.
