Membership Website Turnoffs

You have a top drawer coaching program, an effective marketing plan and a sales page that produces conversions.  But you just can’t seem to hold your members of your membership site like other sites do.  What is it that you are doing wrong? Why is it that clients don’t want to stay with your site?
If it’s not the product and it’s not the ideas that you have that is keeping people away, chances are that it’s the membership site itself.  Let’s look at the things that a website has that turn people off.
Pop Up Advertisements
One of the biggest turnoffs for people when it comes to websites is pop up advertisements. They are annoying, they disrupt what you are trying to do, and they are hard to close down once they are on your screen. Yes, they draw attention to your offers but they draw negative attention to your membership site.  If you have pop up advertisements on your membership portal and you are losing a lot of members, the pop ups could be why.
Difficulty Navigating
Another turnoff for people is a membership site which is hard to navigate.  The person feels like a mouse in a maze, not knowing which way to turn to go where they want to go.  Check your membership site and see how easy or difficult it is to navigate.
This is one of the reasons we recommend the Kajabi platform for our coaches, authors and speakers.  We set up each site in a clear, organized layout much like the chapters of a book.  And we add a handy FAQ section and “Roadmap” category.  When we serve as your Program Concierge, we provide personal, high touch, customer care to help your clients navigate through the site if necessary.
Video
Video is an awesome addition to your site.  It enables people with different learning styles to digest the information in the form best for them and it provides a personal touch.  But instead of forcing people to watch a video, give them the option to watch the video. It may be that they are doing something else and do not want to be assaulted by sound. Instead of having the video talk as soon as they click onto the webpage, give them the chance to choose to watch it.
These are just a few of the things that really can turn a prospective or current member off of becoming a paid member or continuing their membership on your website.  Think about the things that annoy you when it comes to membership websites, and keep from doing that on your own membership website. Chances are that you will see an increase in the amount of memberships you get.
